Racer Profiles
Below is a glimpse of some of the competitors that have raced in the Jericho Oceanman.
Team "BLUE CRUSH" as the main sponsor steve from Blue Crush put together a stellar team in 2003 to overthrow three time winner Triple Threat.Taryn Lencoe just back from World Champs in Spain had a great swim followed by surfskier Zoe Norcross who flew in from Hawaii and finishing off with the fastest run was Natasha Wodak. In 2004 Blue Crush was again victorious edging out team Swimco with a whole new line up including locals Pam Kalas swimming,Sabrina Schwanebeck on the one man outrigger and M.J. Cossette finding all the checkpoints the quickest on the womens side. Looks like team Blue Crush is the team to beat in 2005
Team "PULLING WATER" after winning in 2000 and 2001 Mels team was back in 2004 for the mens relay victory with original Russian swimmer John Melnikow, runner Mike Parks and linking the two was Olympic paddler Don Irvine in his first Jericho Oceanman. Can Pulling Water pull out another victory in 2005?
Team "THE BAKEHOUSE" after back to back victories in 2002 and 2003 the Bakehouse is hungry to reclaim the title in 2005. If Dustin Hersee a 200 backstroker at the Sydney Olmpics, Dave Boone with his new Fenn surfski and Mark "Sparky" Wickstead with a new sense of direction can pull off the victory I hear they get their own pie. Get HUNGRY Boys!
DAVE NORONA is a world class adventure racer. He has competed in Eco Challenge won numerous Sea2Summit adventure races and competed in all five Jericho Oceanman. Dave was the Jericho Oceanman champion in 2002 and 2003.Dave also won the Grand Draw Prize of a flight for two to Hawaii compliments of HARMONY AIRWAYS. Dave will be back in 2005 and you know he will be top three in the after party.
